Women's Volleyball Collects First Victory of Season

Box Score The women's volleyball team recorded their first victory of the season defeating conference opponent Medgar Evers, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-12), on Tuesday evening in Brooklyn, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 1-7 (1-2 in CUNYAC) in 2013 while the Cougars fall to 1-6 (0-3 in CUNYAC).

Senior Martina Hot had a strong game for the Bloodhounds, recording a game-high six kills, three service aces, eight digs, and two assists. Junior Katherine Bonilla once again dished out double-digit assists with 19 and also registered four service aces and two digs. Juniors Hakimah Lovell-McFee and Sandy Requeno finished with five kills each and sophomore Bridget Sarco added eight digs.

The Cougars were led by Janiece Hill who finished with five kills and four digs. Kalifa Roberts recorded four service aces and two kills and Nina-Bernadin White dished out seven assists.

"I am very happy with how our team performed against a conference opponent," head coach Eder Mathelier said. "Tonight, we moved a step in the right direction and we need to continue doing so."

The Bloodhounds will finish their road trip on Thursday, September 19 at 7:00 pm with a match against conference opponent the College of Staten Island. The Dolphins are currently 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
