Box Score The women' volleyball team lost a tough match, 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12), to the College of Staten Island on Thursday night. John Jay won the first and third set but was unable to take the fifth and deciding set in CSI's home opener. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-8 (1-3 in CUNYAC) while the Dolphins improve to 3-4 (2-2 in CUNYAC).
Senior
Martina Hot had an all-around great game for the Bloodhounds. She recorded a double-double, notching a game-high 20 kills, 12 digs, and seven service aces. As a result of Hot's 20 kills, junior
Katherine Bonilla dished out 27 assists and added 15 digs. Sophomore
Perla Pozo finished with 14 digs, two service aces, and two kills.
Bridgette Sarco contributed with 11 digs and two service aces.
The Dolphins were led by Pola Poskrobko, who finished with a team-high 15 kills, eight digs, and three service aces. Jeanmarie Lewandowski registered a double-double with 22 digs and 16 assists.
"This was a tough one to lose," head coach
Eder Mathelier said. "We need to forget about this one and start preparing for our home match on Tuesday."
The Bloodhounds will return to the Doghouse on Tuesday, September 24 against Sarah Lawrence College at 7:00pm. The Gryphons are 1-6 on the season.
