The women's volleyball team rallied to take the final three sets of the conference match, 3-1, against York College on Tuesday evening. The Bloodhounds improve to 9-11 overall and 3-5 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cardinals fall to 5-23 on the season and 1-8 in the conferenceÂ
The Bloodhounds lost in the first set after having a 20-13 lead, 25-27. John Jay bounced back to take the second set, 25-21. Early on in the third set, both teams exchanged points until John Jay went on a 6-1 run to take the set, 25-22. Just like the third set, the score went back and forth. With the score tied at 10 apiece, the Bloodhounds went on a 7-2 run and took the fourth and final set, 25-18.Â
Freshman
Rachel Eng led the Bloodhounds with a game-high 17 kills, to go along with six digs and four service aces. Senior
Katherine Bonilla dished out a game-high 28 assists, five service aces, and four digs. Junior
Jeanette Luna had a team-high six aces and six kills. Junior
Perla Pozo recorded a team-high 11 digs and five service aces. Junior
Latanya Buckham added eight digs and five aces.Â
John Jay totaled 34 kills, 31 assists, 27 service aces, and 34 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to Jersey City for a tri-match on Saturday, November 1. The Bloodhounds face Staten Island at 12pm and CCNY at 2pm. Both matches are considered non-conference.Â
