Box Score The women's tennis team defeated Hunter College, 5-4, in a key CUNYAC match on Friday afternoon at Queens College. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. The Hawks drop to 3-4 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.
John Jay picked up their first win at #1 doubles when the tandem of freshman
Bernarda Reyes and
Ashlynne O'Brien won 8-3. Hunter took #2 and #3 doubles to take an early 2-1 lead.
In singles, O'Brien won 6-1, 6-2 at number one. Reyes defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-1 at the number two spot. At #4, sophomore
Gabriela Baez won 6-1, 6-4.
With the score tied at four apiece, the match would be decided at number five singles. Fortunately, junior
Natalie Cervantes held on to her one set lead to take the set and match, 7-5, 7-5.
