The men's basketball team fell to USMMA, 76-54, in a non-conference game on Monday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-4 on the season (0-1 in CUNYAC). The Mariners pick up their first win and improve to 1-4.
John Jay was outscored 40-25 in the first twenty minutes of play. For the half, the Bloodhounds shot 11-for-32 (34.3%) from the paint and 0-for-8 from behind the arc. In comparison, USMMA went 17-for-30 (56.7%) from the field and 6-for-10 (60%) from three.
The Bloodhounds were led by junior
Kendal Jordan, who posted his fourth double-double in six games. The Miramar, Florida native recorded a game-high 17 rebounds (nine offensive), 15 points, and one block. Senior
Korede Griffith registered a game-high 19 points, four rebounds, and a game-high seven steals. The Brooklyn native is now averaging five steals per game. Senior
Anthony Saldarriaga had 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Senior
Darell Robinson dished out a team-high six assists and junior
Calvin Ingram picked up a team-high two blocks and six rebounds.
For the game, John Jay was 19-for-64 (29.7%) from the floor.
