The women's volleyball team went 1-2 on Saturday and Sunday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Multi-Match in Kings Point, NY. The Bloodhounds defeated Lehman College, 3-0 (15-25, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9), in its first match. John Jay then fell to USMMA, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19), and Kean University, 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-6). The Bloodhounds are now 5-11 overall.
In the match against the Lightning of Lehman, senior

Katrina Zapanta, and sophomore
Rachel Eng recorded double-doubles. Eng recorded 14 kills, a team-high 27 digs, and seven service aces. Beckham finished with a team-high 16 kills and 15 digs. Zapanta dished out a team-high 32 assists, to go along with 11 digs, three kills, and two aces. Senior

Anna Gevorgyan combined for 25 digs and four service aces.
Against the Mariners of USMMA, Eng, Zapanta, and sophomore Savanna Davis picked up double-doubles. Eng had a team-high 11 kills, a game-high 21 digs, and two aces. Zapanta finished with a game-high 28 assists, 10 digs, and three kills. Davis registered 10 kills, 12 digs, and two aces. Buckham and Pozo had 10 and eight digs, respectively. Sophomore

Nyla Lloyd-Clarke recorded three kills each.
In the final match of the weekend against the Kean Cougars, Zapanta led John Jay with six kills, seven assists, and 11 digs. Buckham and Davis combined for six kills and 14 digs. Eng had 11 digs and four assists. Lloyd-Clarke finished with five kills. Pozo registered 10 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to Brooklyn College on Monday, October 12, for a CUNYAC Multi-Match. John Jay will face Brooklyn and Medgar Evers College.
