Box Score The #6 women's tennis team lost to #3 Hunter College, 5-3, on Friday afternoon in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens. The Bloodhounds end the season with a 1-10 overall record and 1-5 conference record. The Hawks advance to the semifinals where they will face the College of Staten Island. 

With John Jay trailing 1-0 in doubles, the number one duo of sophomore Bernarda Reyes and freshman Rageene Berry notched a 9-7 victory to tie the score at one apiece. The Hawks took number two doubles to lead 2-1 heading into singles play. 

In singles, Berry tied the match score at 2-2 when she won at the number two spot, 6-1, 6-1. Hunter regained the lead after taking five and six to lead 4-2. The Bloodhounds closed the gap when junior Gabriela Baez won 6-3, 6-2 at number four. But the Hawks won the match when they collected a win at the first spot.

3. Catherine Ng/Pauline McGlone (HUNTERW) def. Jessica Melchiorre/Elisa Quintana (JOHNJAY) 8-1

 

This match turned out to be the final one of Jessica Melchiorre's collegiate career. The Athletics Department wishes her the best of luck in the future!
