The women's volleyball team fell to Smith College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-22), and Eastern Connecticut State College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-15), on Saturday afternoon in Willimantic, CT. The Bloodhounds drop to 3-9 overall.
In the first match against the Pioneers of Smith College, junior
Katrina Zapanta recorded a double-double with a team-high 13 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore
Rachel Eng registered a game-high eight kills, two aces, and a team-high 17 digs. Senior
Latanya Buckham added five kills and 11 digs. Senior

Savannah Davis combined for 28 digs.
In the second match against the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State, Eng finished with a game-high nine kills, a team-high four aces, and a game-high 15 digs. Zapanta dished out 10 assists and had seven digs. Davis, Pozo, and Buckham combined for four kills, three aces, and 16 digs.
For the day, John Jay totaled 30 kills, 29 assists, 11 service aces, and 107 digs.
The Bloodhounds host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 pm.
