The women's basketball team extended their win streak to two when they defeated St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, 67-62, on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 5-16 on the season. The Bears drop to 14-8 overall.

Terri Chu drained a three. With the score tied at 8-8 with 16:32 remaining in the first half, St. Joe's scored the next four points. The Bloodhounds fired right back and tied the game on a three-pointer by sophomore
Josephine Diaz and a free-throw from Cunningham.
With 7:46 left in the half and John Jay down by one, the Bloodhounds broke open the game on a 16-0 run to lead, 36-21. The Bears were able to trim the deficit to 38-26 at the half. For the first twenty minutes, John Jay went 14-for-43 (42.4%) from the field and 5-for-9 (55.6%) from behind the arc.
Two minutes into the second half, St. Joseph's was able to cut the lead down to six. Six minutes later, John Jay increased the lead back up to 16. The hosts then went on a 7-0 run to trail, 52-43. With 4:11 left on the clock and the Bloodhounds leading 61-52, the Bears recorded the next four points to cut the deficit down to five.
Two minutes later, St. Joe's went on a 6-0 to trail by one point. John Jay closed out the game by scoring the last four points to win, 67-62.

Amber Villegas and freshman
Victoria Royal recorded double-doubles for the Bloodhounds. Villegas had 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Royal had 11 points, a team-high 13 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Diaz led John Jay in scoring with 17 points, to go along with four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Cunningham finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and one block. Chu added nine points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse on Tuesday, February 10, against York College at 5 pm. In the last meeting, the Bloodhounds came out of Jamaica with a 74-71 win.
