The women's volleyball team fell to Montclair State, 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-17), and Albright College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21), on Saturday afternoon in Montclair, NJ. The Bloodhounds start the season at 0-2.
In the match against the Red Hawks of Montclair, sophomore
Rachel Eng recorded a team-high five kills, 11 digs, and one service ace. Senior
Katrina Zapanta dished out 11 assists, to go along with five digs, and team-high two aces. Senior
Perla Pozo added 11 digs and three kills. Sophomore
Savannah Davis had nine digs and senior
Latanya Buckham had John Jay's lone block.
The Bloodhounds finished with 14 kills, 13 assists, four service aces, and 41 digs.
In John Jay's match versus the Albright Lions, Eng recorded her first double-double of the season with a team-high 12 kills and game-high 14 digs. Zapanta fell one dig shy of a double-double with a team-high 18 assists, nine digs, and two aces. Pozo picked up 11 digs, two kills, and two service aces. Buckham added five kills and nine digs.
John Jay finished with 25 kills, 21 assists, six aces, and 52 digs.
The Bloodhounds will travel to the College of Old Westbury on Tuesday, September 8, at 6 pm for a non-conference match.
