The men's basketball team lost to York College, 73-46, on Friday night at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fall to 2-14 overall and 1-7 in the conference. The Cardinals improve to 5-12 on the season and 2-6 in CUNYAC.
Freshman
Essien Epps recorded a team-high 16 points and five rebounds. Junior
Geno Ware came off the bench and registered eight points, six rebounds, and two assists. Senior
Calvin Ingram and junior
Kiernan Hayes combined for seven points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. Junior
Jesse Higgins finished with seven points and a team-high three assists.
Chukwubiekem Oguaha added six points and four rebounds.
York jumped out to an early 19-2 lead with 9:31 left in the first half. The Cardinals went into halftime up, 39-17. With 7:04 left in the second half, the visitors increased its lead to 31. York eventually went on to pick up their second conference win of the season.
John Jay went 19-for-71 (26.8%) from the floor, 3-for-21 (14.3%) from behind the arc, and 5-for-15 (33.3%) from the free-throw line.
John Jay travels to Bethlehem, PA on Sunday, January 17, for a non-conference game against Moravian College at 2:00 pm.
