Box Score For the first time since 2010, the women's tennis team advances to the CUNYAC semifinals after defeating Brooklyn College, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 5-5 on the year. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 4-11 overall record.
At number one doubles, junior
Bernarda Reyes and sophomore
Rageene Berry cruised to an 8-0 victory. In the second spot, sophomore
Viktoriia Plisenko and senior
Gabriela Baez edged Brooklyn's tandem, 9-8 (12-6). In the final doubles match, freshman
Angelica Lozando Pena and junior
Dominique Dawkins were victorious, 8-4.
Leading 3-0 heading into singles play, John Jay needed only two singles wins to take the match. At the number one spot, Reyes came out on top, 6-1, 6-1. In two singles, Berry clinched the victory after winning, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bloodhounds will now face the first seed Baruch College on Tuesday, October 25, at 3:00 pm at the USTA National Tennis Center.
