Women's Tennis Loses Close One to Staten Island

Box Score The women's tennis team battled the College of Staten Island but ultimately fell, 5-4, on Tuesday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. The Bloodhounds are now at .500 with an overall record of 3-3 and conference record of 3-1. The Dolphins improve to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in CUNYAC. 

For the third time in three matches this season, John Jay's number one doubles tandem of junior Bernarda Reyes and sophomore Rageene Berry came out on top with an 8-2 victory. The Bloodhounds trailed 2-1 heading into singles play. 

Reyes won at the top spot with a score of 6-1, 6-1. Berry also cruised to a victory at number two, 6-2, 6-1. John Jay's last victory came at number four when freshman Angelica Lozando Pena won in a back-and-forth match, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. 

The Bloodhounds travel to Lehman College for a pivotal conference match on Saturday, October 8, at 12:00 pm.
