The women's volleyball team split a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Wayne, NJ. The Bloodhounds lost to William Paterson, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-12, 25-18), but then rebounded to shutout Cedar Crest, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19). John Jay is now 7-8 overall.
In the match against the Pioneers of William Paterson, junior
Rachel Eng recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a season-high and game-high 18 kills, 14 digs, and two aces. Senior
Katrina Zapanta registered a season-high and game-high 45 assists, six digs, five kills, and a team-high four service aces. Freshman
Jhoanna Castro finished with her first collegiate double-double with a season-high 10 kills and season-high 13 digs. Sophomore
Nyla Lloyd-Clarke added 10 kills and junior Savannah David had a season-high 14 digs. Senior
Jeanette Luna picked up eight kills, eight digs, four assists, and one ace. Senior
Bridgette Sarco had five digs and freshman
Mirialis Almanzar added four kills.Â
Against Cedar Crest, Eng finished with a game-high 16 kills, eight digs, and two service aces. Zapanta dished out a team-high 26 assists to go along with six kills, a game-high five aces, and three digs. Luna recorded a game-high 11 digs, three kills, three aces, and two assists. Lloyd-Clarke picked up six kills and Castro had five digs.Â
John Jay totaled 90 kills, 82 assists, 21 service aces, and 94 digs.Â
The Bloodhounds travel to Baruch College on Monday, October 10, for a CUNYAC tri-match. John Jay faces Baruch at 10:00 am and Lehman College at 12:00 pm.Â
