The women's basketball team lost to Brooklyn College, 66-45, on Friday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs improve to 5-1 and 3-0 in CUNYAC.

Dana Nicholson led John Jay with a team-high 13 points, going 3-for-3 from behind the arc, three rebounds, and one steal. Senior
Shaliyah Ruiz picked up 11 points and three rebounds. Senior
Cassandra Taylor registered seven points and seven rebounds. Freshmen
Karen Rosario and
Uju Nwaigwe grabbed nine rebounds each and senior
Claire Prince dished out a team-high six assists.
Brooklyn jumped out to two early leads in the first quarter but the Bloodhounds tied the score each time. With the score tied 5-5, Taylor hit a jumper, Nicholson nailed a three, and Ruiz converted on a three-point play to take a 13-5 advantage with 3:39 left in the quarter. The Bulldogs ended the period on a 9-0 run to lead 14-13 after one.
The visitors began the second with 11 straight points to increase their lead to 25-13. Nicholson and Taylor responded with back-to-back three pointers to cut the deficit to seven. Brooklyn ended the half on a 13-1 run to go up 41-22 heading into halftime.
John Jay's first basket of the third quarter was a layup by Prince with 5:57 remaining. The Bloodhounds were outscored 21-7. In the final period, John Jay scored 16 points and had six players register points.
John Jay finished 21-for-75 (28.0%) from the floor, 8-for-30 (26.7%) from behind the arc, and 16-for-22 (72.7%) from the charity stripe.
The Bloodhounds travel to Centenary College (NJ) on Monday, December 12, for a non-conference game at 6:00 pm.
