The men's volleyball team is off to its best start in program history after sweeping a CUNYAC multi-match on Monday at the Doghouse. John Jay defeated Brooklyn College, 3-1 (25-13, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21), and York College, 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-19). The Bloodhounds are now 4-1 overall and in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the match against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, junior
Jack Palleschi recorded his first double-double of the season with a game-high 20 kills, a game-high 16 digs, and a game-high four service aces. Junior
Nicholas Anderson registered a game-high 43 assists, seven kills, five digs, and two aces. Sophomore
Juan DeJesus fell two digs shy of a double-double with 11 kills and eight digs. Sophomore
Alexander Santana picked up 10 kills and six digs. Junior
Francisco Miranda added six kills and eight digs and sophomore
Gary Wu had seven digs.
For the match, the Bloodhounds finished with 56 kills, 49 assists, 53 digs, and eight service aces.
In their second match of the day against the Cardinals from York College, Palleschi finished with a team-high 11 kills and three digs. DeJesus recorded seven kills, five digs, and two aces. Anderson dished out a game-high 28 assists go along with four kills and two digs. Santana added six kills and Miranda had five kills and a game-high five service aces.
For the day, John Jay totaled 92 kills, 82 assists, 69 digs, and 17 service aces.
