The men's volleyball team opened the season by splitting a CUNYAC multi-match on Saturday afternoon at Baruch College. The Bloodhounds swept City College (CCNY), 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-21), but then fell to Hunter College, 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-20). John Jay starts the season 1-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
Against the Beavers of CCNY, senior
Jack Palleschi recorded a game-high 14 kills, a game-high six digs, a game-high four service aces, and a game-high four blocks. Senior
Nicholas Anderson dished out a team-high 20 assists, to go along with four kills, one ace, and one block. Sophomore
Alexander Santana registered three service aces and junior
Francisco Miranda had five digs.
In their next match against the Hunter Hawks, Anderson finished with 16 assists and two digs. Sophomore
Juan DeJesus picked up five kills and a team-high 10 digs. Santana added six kills and Miranda collected four digs.
For the day, John Jay totaled 48 kills, 43 assists, 54 digs, 11 service aces, and nine blocks.
The Bloodhounds host Medgar Evers College on Wednesday, February 10, at 6:00 pm at the Doghouse.
