The men's volleyball team split a CUNYAC multi-match on Saturday afternoon in Jamaica, NY at York College. The Bloodhounds defeated the College of Staten Island, 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-7, 25-17), but then fell to Baruch College, 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23).
In the match against the Dolphins of Staten Island, senior
Jack Palleschi recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a game-high and season-high 29 kills, 10 digs, two blocks, and one ace. Senior
Nicholas Anderson picked up a game-high and season-high 50 assists, three kills, three digs, and two blocks. Junior
Francisco Miranda registered eight kills and a game-high 13 digs. Junior
Carmelo Cintron Jr. and sophomore
Alexander Santana combined for 12 kills, 10 digs, two service aces, and two blocks. Sophomore
Juan DeJesus added four blocks and nine digs.
In the match against the Bearcats of Baruch, DeJesus fell one dig shy of a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs. Palleschi picked up a team-high 11 kills, five digs, and a game-high three blocks. Anderson dished out a team-high 31 assists and Cintron Jr. had five kills and a game-high six service aces. Miranda totaled three kills, two aces, and six digs.
For the day, John Jay totaled 94 kills, 83 assists, 14 service aces, 11 blocks, and 84 digs.
The Bloodhounds close out the regular season on Tuesday, March 29, when they travel to Brooklyn College for a conference match at 6:00 pm.
