The women's volleyball team split a CUNYAC tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds defeated Brooklyn College, 3-2 (16-25, 25-20, 11-25, 25-18, 15-12), and then fell to Hunter College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-10). John Jay is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
Against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn, junior
Rachel Eng led the Bloodhounds with her second double-double of the season. The outside hitter recorded a game-high 12 kills, a team-high 19 digs, and three service aces. Senior
Jeanette Luna fell one kill shy of a double-double with nine kills and 13 digs. Senior
Katrina Zapanta dished out a game-high 34 assists to go along with nine digs and three kills. Sophomore
Nyla Lloyd-Clarke collected a season-high 11 kills and a game-high three solo blocks. Junior
Savannah Davis and freshman
Cassandra Castellanos combined for 18 digs.
In the second match of the day against the Hawks from Hunter, Zapanta finished with a team-high nine assists, a team-high three aces, and three digs. Luna and Eng combined for six kills, 13 digs, and two service aces. Freshman
Kimberly Rodriguez added four digs.
For the day, John Jay totaled 48 kills, 46 assists, 20 service aces, five blocks, and 95 digs.
