The women's volleyball team came out with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23) victory against the College of Mount St. Vincent on senior night on Friday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds are now above .500 at 11-10. The Dolphins drop to 15-9.
Freshman
Brianna Geraldo notched her fourth double-double of the season with 14 kills, 12 digs, and two service aces. Junior
Brittany Steele recorded a team-high 17 kills and nine digs. Freshman
Nicole Aguasvivas finished with a match-high 20 digs and sophomore
Kimberly Rodriguez dished out 37 assists. Sophomore
Mirialis Almanzar added five kills, four total blocks, and three digs. Senior
Anna Gevorgyan had a game-high five service aces.
The first set went back-and-forth as the score was knotted at 11 apiece. John Jay scored the next two points but a 6-0 run gave the Dolphins a 17-13 advantage. The Bloodhounds ended the set on an 11-5 run to take the opening set. John Jay scored the first six points of the second but Mount St. Vincent quickly cut the deficit to three. The Bloodhounds followed on an 8-2 run to go up 16-9. The Dolphins responded recording the next five points but John Jay registered three of the next four points. CMSV trimmed at the lead but the Bloodhounds held a 2-0 advantage.
With the score tied 3-3 in the third, the Dolphins scored four straight and then each team followed on 3-0 runs. Leading by three, the visitors broke open the set on an 8-1 run. Down by 11, John Jay fought back to trail by five after tallying six straight. However, the Dolphins won the set and cut the deficit to 2-1. CMSV recorded the first three points of the fourth but John Jay bounced back on a 5-0 run. The Dolphins then went on a 7-1 run to lead 11-6. Down by six, the Bloodhounds responded on an 8-2 run to tie the set at 16-16. The Bloodhounds ended the set taking four of the final five points to win on senior night.
John Jay totaled 47 kills, 45 assists, 12 total blocks, 11 service aces, and 51 digs.

The Bloodhounds travel to Langhorne, PA for a non-conference tri-match. John Jay will face Medgar Evers at 1:00 pm, followed by Cairn University at approximately 3:00 pm.
