Women's Volleyball Ends Regular Season with Non-Conference Split; Host Lehman on Tuesday in CUNYAC Quarterfinals

The women's volleyball team split a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Bloodhounds defeated Plattsburgh State, 3-1 (29-27, 17-25, 25-18, 25-21), and then lost to Vassar, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-15). John Jay ends the regular season with its best finish in program history at 16-11. 

In the first match versus Plattsburgh, junior Brittany Steele and freshman Brianna Geraldo registered double-doubles. Steele finished with a match-high 23 kills, 13 digs, and three total blocks. Geraldo had 11 kills and a game-high 15 digs. Sophomore Kimberly Rodriguez dished out a game-high 46 assists to go along with two aces. Freshman Nicole Aguasvivas and junior Hualeska Garcia finished with 13 and 10 digs, respectively. Junior Nyla Lloyd-Clarke added eight kills and senior Anna Gevorgyan recorded a team-high four service aces.

Against Vassar College, Steele led the Bloodhounds with 10 kills. Rodriguez registered 15 assists and Geraldo notched five kills and five digs. Aguasvivas recorded 10 digs. 

For the day, John Jay totaled 70 kills, 68 assists, 11 aces, and 86 digs. 

The #3 Bloodhounds host #6 Lehman College in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, October 31, at 6:00 pm at the Doghouse. The match will be live streamed at www.johnjayathletics.com/watch
