The women's volleyball team dropped two conference matches on Monday afternoon at Hunter College. The Bloodhounds fell to Brooklyn College, 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 20-25, 25-14), and Hunter, 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-17). John Jay falls to 7-9 on the season and 4-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the match against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn, junior
Brittany Steele and freshman
Brianna Geraldo recorded double-doubles. Steele picked up her sixth double-double with a team-high 16 kills, a game-high 14, and a team-high two service aces. Geraldo finished with her third double-double of the year with 12 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
Kimberly Rodriguez dished out a game-high 41 assists to go along with eight digs. Junior
Mballou Berete added eight kills and freshman
Nicole Aguasvivas had six digs.
Against the Hawks, Steele registered four kills and 10 digs. Sophomore
Mirialis Almanzar tallied three kills and Rodriguez picked up 12 assists. Berete added three total blocks.
John Jay totaled 59 kills, 57 assists, 19 total blocks, nine service aces, and 79 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to Camden, NJ on Saturday, October 14, for a non-conference doubleheader. John Jay will face Brooklyn College at 2:00 pm, followed by Rutgers-Camden at 4:00 pm.
