The men's volleyball team lost to Alvernia University, 3-1 (27-25, 25-17, 19-25, 26-24), and Wells College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19), on Saturday afternoon on the campus of York College in Jamaica, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 3-4 overall.
Against Alvernia, freshman
Edwin Hernandez recorded his first collegiate double-double with 12 kills, a team-high 10 digs, and two solo blocks. Junior
Juan DeJesus finished with a game-high 13 kills, six digs, and a game-high three service aces. Freshman
Steven Alvarado dished out a game-high 31 assists to go along with five digs. Senior
Francisco Miranda and junior
Alexander Santana combined for 10 kills, seven digs, two aces, and two solo blocks. Freshman
Godwin Sequeria had seven digs.
In their next match against Wells, Hernandez once again led the team in kills with 10 to go along with five digs. Alvarado finished with a game-high 24 assists and Sequeria added seven digs. DeJesus registered nine kills and nine digs. Miranda tallied four kills and six digs.
John Jay totaled 67 kills, 60 assists, eight service aces, and 70 digs for the day.
The Bloodhounds travel to Cambridge, MA for a non-conference match against Lesley University at 8:00 pm.
