The men's volleyball team shut out Yeshiva University, 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-15), on Sunday afternoon and then fell at Purchase College, 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-20), on Tuesday night. The Bloodhounds' four game winning streak comes to an end as John Jay is now 8-10 on the year.
In the match against the Maccabees of Yeshiva, freshman
Ryan Willix led the team in kills with six to go along with five digs. Freshman
Steven Alvarado dished out a game-high 15 assists and junior
Brandon Dolores finished with a game-high eight digs. Junior
Juan DeJesus recorded five kills and five digs. Senior
Francisco Miranda added seven digs and a game-high three service aces and freshman Krystian Surdel had four kills.
In the contest vs. the Panthers, freshman
Edwin Hernandez picked up his third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 11 digs. Surdel registered his first collegiate double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 13 digs. Miranda totaled six kills and a team-high 19 digs. Alvarado added a game-high 31 assists and seven digs. Freshman
Godwin Sequiera finished with 13 digs.
In the two matches combined, John Jay totaled 63 kills, 60 assists, 12 service aces, and 105 digs.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse for a CUNYAC multi-match on Saturday, March 11. John Jay faces Hunter College at 12:00 pm followed by Brooklyn College at 2:00 pm.
