Box Score The women's tennis team defeated Western Connecticut State, 5-3, on Thursday afternoon in Danbury, CT. The Bloodhounds are now 2-0 on the season. The Colonials drop to 3-1.
John Jay's first win of the day came at three doubles when the duo of freshmen
Gabrielle Schuck and
Cristina Peralta cruised to an 8-2 victory. In the second spot, the tandem of sophomore
Angelica Lozano and freshman
Gabriela de Armas won a back-and-forth match by a final of 9-8.
Heading into singles play, the Bloodhounds held a 2-1 advantage. At the top spot, senior
Bernarda Reyes came out on top by a score of 6-4, 6-4. de Armas followed that up with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number three. Number two singles was a dogfight as the match went three sets. In the end, junior
Rageene Berry came out with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 win.
The Bloodhounds travel to Purchase College on Tuesday, September 19, for a non-conference match. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
