The women's basketball team powered by St. Joseph's College Long Island, 83-65, on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. With the win, the Bloodhounds get back to .500 on the season at 2-2. The Golden Eagles drop to 0-5 overall.
Nyasha Howard finished with her best game as a Bloodhound. The junior recorded a game-high 24 points, shooting 10-for-14 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc, to go along with a game-high 19 rebounds, game-high four blocks, and four assists. Freshman
Lily Rakitzis registered 15 points, game-high five assists, and three steals.

All'aha Albright picked up her second double-double of the season with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals. Freshman
Katie Healy came off the bench to add 10 points and seven boards. Freshman

The Bloodhounds scored seven of the games first nine points. With John Jay leading 10-7, the Golden Eagles ended the quarter on a 9-0 run to hold a 16-10 advantage.
SJCLI had a 22-16 lead with 6:03 left in the half before the Bloodhounds responded with 14 straight points to go up 30-22. Howard recorded eight of the 14 points. Two free-throws by Albright gave John Jay a 32-24 advantage at the half.
Halfway through the third quarter, the Golden Eagles trimmed the deficit but a 12-0 run by the Bloodhounds broke open the game. John Jay outscored the guests by a margin of 29-19 in the third period.
Both teams scored 22 points in the fourth as John Jay finished with a season-high 84 points. The last time the Bloodhounds scored 80+ points was on November 26, 2013.
John Jay finished 33-for-74 (44.6%) from the floor, 6-for-19 (31.6%) from behind the arc, and 11-for-15 (73.3%) from the charity stripe.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College of New Rochelle on Wednesday, November 28, for a non-conference game at 7:00 pm.
