The men's basketball team cruised to an 80-64 victory against Maritime College on the road on Tuesday night in Throggs Neck, NY. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 3-1 on the season. The Privateers drop to 1-5 overall.
Essien Epps made history tonight as the senior moved up to third all-time in program history after registering 28 points, on 10-of-15 shooting. The Bloomfield, NJ native picked up his first double-double of the season after grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with a season-high and game-high five steals. He now has 1,387 career points and is four behind second place. With 207 points, he will become the all-time leader in Bloodhounds history.

Doug Levy notched his second double-double of the year with 14 points, 12 boards, and a game-high five blocks. Senior
Jerome Petty tallied 10 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore
Kyle LaGuardia finished with a season-high 12 points after going 6-for-7 from the floor. Sophomore
Romello Ford added seven points and dished out a team-high three assists.
With John Jay up 4-2, Petty scored five straight points to increase the lead to seven. The Privateers cut the deficit to 12-9 with 15:08 left in the half but Epps made a layup to end the run.
Leading by four, LaGuardia and freshman
Santiago Collado made back-to-back layups to put the Bloodhounds ahead 21-13. Epps recorded John Jay's final nine points of the half to head into halftime with a 43-31 advantage.
With the Bloodhounds holding a 12-point lead, Epps converted on a three-point play with 14:13 remaining. Maritime went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead down to 10 but John Jay responded with six straight of their own. A dunk by Levy with just over six minutes on the clock sealed the victory for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay finished 28-for-54 (51.9%) from the field, 4-for-18 (22.2%) from behind the arc, and 20-for-31 (64.5%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse on Saturday, December 1, when they begin CUNYAC play against Lehman College at 3:00 pm. The game is part of the CUNYAC Game of the Week and will be live streamed at
