The women's basketball team cruised to a 69-51 victory in the conference opener on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds are off to their best start in program history with an overall record of 4-2 and 1-0 in conference play. The Lightning drop to 0-5 and 0-1 in CUNYAC.

All'aha Albright recorded her third double-double of the season with a season-high and game-high 27 points, shooting 10-for-14, to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds and three steals. Freshman
Lily Rakitzis finished with 10 points and five boards.

Nyasha Howard came off the bench to pour in 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and a game-high two blocks. Freshmen
Madison LaLone and
Katie Healy combined for 11 points and 10 boards.
Lehman scored the first three points of the afternoon but John Jay responded with 11 straight points as Healy had four points and Albright sank a three-pointer. At the end of the first, the Bloodhounds held a 17-12 advantage.
The Lightning trimmed the deficit to two but a layup by Albright ended their run. John Jay broke open the game on a 16-0 run to lead 37-19 with 2:15 left in the half. A free-throw by Howard at the end of the period put the Bloodhounds ahead 38-20 at halftime.
Two free-throws by Rakitzis increased the lead to 18 but Lehman ended the quarter on a 6-2 run to cut the lead down to 52-38 at the end of three.
Albright made a layup to open the fourth. With 4:27 remaining in the contest, Lehman cut the deficit to 60-47 but Healy made a free-throw and four straight points by Howard sealed the victory for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay finished 25-for-54 (46.3%) from the floor, 3-for-11 (27.3%) from behind the arc, and 16-for-21 (76.2%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College of Staten Island on Tuesday, December 4, for a conference match at 5:30 pm.
