In an electric Doghouse, the men's basketball team lost to Bard College, 84-54, on Tuesday night on Homecoming. The Bloodhounds drop to 5-3 on the season while the Raptors improve to 6-3.
Freshman
Santiago Collado came off the bench to lead John Jay in scoring with a team-high 13 points. Junior
Doug Levy fell two points shy of a double-double with eight points, a game-high 14 rebounds, and a game-high three blocks.
Sophomore
Romello Ford finished with nine points and dished out a team-high three assists. Senior
Essien Epps registered eight points, six rebounds, and a game-high three steals.
Five minutes into the game, Bard jumped out to a 12-0 lead. The next eight minutes went back-and-forth as the Raptors held a 24-9 advantage. Up by nine, the visitors went on a 9-0 run to increase their lead to 18. The Bloodhounds went into the half trailing 46-26.
Two free-throws by Levy to start the second half cut the deficit to 18. Three minutes later, Bard went up 54-28 and would go on to record the non-conference victory.
John Jay finished 21-for-65 (32.3%) from the floor, 5-for-21 (23.8%) from behind the arc, and 7-for-11 (63.6%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds head into finals week and will return to the floor on Saturday, December 29, when they host Framingham State University at 1:00 pm at the Doghouse.
