After falling in the first set, the women's volleyball team stormed back to defeat Sarah Lawrence, 3-1 (16-25, 29-27, 25-16, 25-9), on Saturday afternoon in Bronxville, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-3 while the Gryphons drop to 0-5.
John Jay fell in the first set, 25-16, and then went back-and-forth with the hosts in the second set. With the score knotted at 27-27, the Bloodhounds took the last two points to even the score at one apiece. John Jay then cruised in the third and fourth sets to record the non-conference victory.
Sophomore
Brianna Geraldo led the Bloodhounds with her second straight double-double with a match-high 13 kills and 11 digs. Junior
Kimberly Rodriguez had an all-around game with a game-high 31 assists, eight digs, and a match-high five service aces.
Junior
Mirialis Almanzar finished with eight kills and freshman
Stephanie Marcano tallied a team-high 12 digs and three aces. Senior
Mballou Berete had five kills, a match-high five total blocks, and four digs. Freshman
Niovis Monsanto added seven kills.
John Jay totaled 39 kills, 33 assists, 45 digs, 15 service aces, and 12 total blocks.
