After falling in the first set, the women's volleyball team stormed back to defeat Sarah Lawrence, 3-1 (16-25, 29-27, 25-16, 25-9), on Saturday afternoon in Bronxville, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-3 while the Gryphons drop to 0-5. 

John Jay fell in the first set, 25-16, and then went back-and-forth with the hosts in the second set. With the score knotted at 27-27, the Bloodhounds took the last two points to even the score at one apiece. John Jay then cruised in the third and fourth sets to record the non-conference victory. 

Sophomore Brianna Geraldo led the Bloodhounds with her second straight double-double with a match-high 13 kills and 11 digs. Junior Kimberly Rodriguez had an all-around game with a game-high 31 assists, eight digs, and a match-high five service aces.

Junior Mirialis Almanzar finished with eight kills and freshman Stephanie Marcano tallied a team-high 12 digs and three aces. Senior Mballou Berete had five kills, a match-high five total blocks, and four digs. Freshman Niovis Monsanto added seven kills. 

John Jay totaled 39 kills, 33 assists, 45 digs, 15 service aces, and 12 total blocks. 

The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse for a conference match against York College on Thursday, September 20, at 7:00 pm. The game will be live streamed for free at www.johnjayathletics.com/watch.
