The women's volleyball team lost two non-conference matches on Saturday afternoon in Wayne, NJ on the campus of William Paterson University. The Bloodhounds fell to Cedar Crest College, 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-14), and William Paterson, 3-2 (15-25, 25-9, 18-25, 25-20, 15-10). John Jay is now 3-5 on the season.
In the match against Cedar Crest, sophomore
Brianna Geraldo recorded her third double-double of the season with a match-high 15 kills and 15 digs. Freshman
Niovis Monsanto tallied 13 kills, six digs, and a team-high three service aces. Junior
Kimberly Rodriguez dished out a game-high 37 assists and junior
Mirialis Almanzar had six kills. Freshman
Stephanie Marcano added a match-high 20 digs.Â
In the back-and-forth tilt with the host Pioneers, senior
Mballou Berete finished with a season-high and match-high 17 kills, four digs, three total blocks, and three aces. Geraldo picked up her second straight double-double, and fourth of the season, with 15 kills and 10 digs. Monsanto registered 14 kills and Marcano notched a season-high and match-high 22 digs. Rodriguez dished out a game-high 51 assists to go along with a match-high five aces. Senior
Nyla Lloyd-Clarke added eight kills.Â
John Jay totaled 103 kills, 98 assists, 110 digs, 18 service aces, and 12 total blocks.Â
The Bloodhounds travel to City College (CCNY) on Tuesday, September 25, for a conference match at 7:00 pm.Â
