The women's volleyball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Wesley College on Saturday afternoon in Dover, DE. The Bloodhounds fell in the first match, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-21), before sweeping the second of the day, 3-0 (29-27, 25-22, 25-15). John Jay is now 5-6 on the season. The Wolverines are now 8-11.
In the opening match, freshman
Niovis Monsanto finished one kill shy of her first collegiate double-double with a match-high nine kills and 11 digs. Sophomore
Brianna Geraldo recorded seven kills, a team-high 17 digs, and a season-high and team-high four service aces. Freshman
Stephanie Marcano registered 12 digs and junior
Kimberly Rodriguez dished out a game-high 24 assists.
In the win for the Bloodhounds, Geraldo notched her sixth double-double of the year with a season-high and match-high 17 kills and 17 digs. Senior
Nyla Lloyd-Clarke finished with nine kills and three total blocks. Monsanto tallied seven kills, a career-high 19 digs, and a pair of aces. Marcano added 16 digs and junior
Mirialis Almanzar had five kills and a team-high four total blocks. Rodriguez totaled a match-high 34 assists, six digs, and a game-high three service aces. Sophomore
Nicole Aguasvivas registered a season-high eight digs.
For the day, John Jay totaled 66 kills, 63 assists, 141 digs, 14 service aces, and 20 total blocks.
The Bloodhounds travel to City College (CCNY) for a make-up game on Tuesday, October 2, at 7:00 pm.
