The men's volleyball team went 1-1 in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Glenside, PA. The Bloodhounds lost to Arcadia University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-19), but rebounded to top Eastern Mennonite University, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 29-27). John Jay is now 3-1 on the season.
In the match against Arcadia, junior
Krystian Surdel recorded a match-high 11 kills. Freshman
Alejandro Gallardo finished with seven kills and six digs. Sophomore
Dylan Senkiw added seven kills and John Jay's lone block.
Junior
Godwin Sequeira dished out a game-high 23 assists and sophomore
Rintaro Kato tallied a match-high eight digs. Senior
Michael Chabla had a team-high two aces.
In the victory over EMU, Surdel led all hitters with a game-high 15 kills and five digs. Gallardo and Senkiw notched 14 and 11 kills, respectively.
Kato finished with a match-high six digs and Sequeira registered a game-high 33 assists.
For the day, John Jay totaled 72 kills, 69 assists, 49 digs, eight total blocks, and five service aces.
The Bloodhounds are back at it tomorrow in Pennsylvania when they face Elmira at 11:00 am and Ramapo at 1:00 pm.
