The women's basketball team overcame a late deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Baruch College, 71-68, on Thursday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds improve to 6-4 on the season and 2-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bearcats drop to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
With the score tied 68-68 with 50 seconds remaining in regulation, the Bloodhounds got a key defensive stop for the final shot. Junior
All'aha Albright dribbled down the court and with 2.1 seconds remaining, drilled a deep three-pointer to give the Bloodhounds the come-from-behind victory. The forward finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Freshman
Katie Healy continued her dominating freshman season with her second straight double-double, and third of the season, with a season-high and team-high 22 points, game-high 17 rebounds, season-high four assists, and three steals. Junior
Nyasha Howard also finished with her third double-double of the year with 14 points, 12 boards, a season-high and game-high five assists, and a game-high two blocks.

Lily Rakitzis registered 12 points and sophomore
Jessica Gorman grabbed nine boards.
With the score tied 4-4, Baruch went on a 12-3 run to lead by nine. At the end of one, the guests led 20-9.
Healy opened the second by converting on a three-point play. Freshman
Madison LaLone followed with a layup and a jumper by Healy cut the deficit to four. Howard made a layup with 5:51 left in the period to give the Bloodhounds a 23-22 advantage. Down by three with three seconds on the clock, Baruch's Samantha Genco made a long three-pointer to tie the game at 36 apiece at the half.

Christianne Perez and Healy put John Jay back ahead by one. John Jay led 50-49 heading into the final period.
Two minutes into the quarter, Baruch went up by four. With 4:59, Gorman sank a three-pointer to tie the game at 60-60. With the Bloodhounds down by two, Perez made a layup with 0:53 on the clock. Baruch followed to miss a three as Howard grabbed the rebound. As time expired, Albright banked in her second three-pointer of the contest to get the Bloodhounds back to .500 in conference play.
John Jay finished 28-for-72 (38.9%) from the field, 3-for-13 (23.1%) from behind the arc, and 12-for-19 (63.2%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds travel to Manhattanville College on Saturday, January 5, for a non-conference game at 1:00 pm.
