The women's volleyball team lost a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon in Newburgh, NY. The Bloodhounds fell to William Paterson, 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-13), and Mount Saint Mary College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-21). John Jay is now 5-16 on the season.
In the match vs. William Paterson, senior
Mirialis Almanzar led all hitters with a match-high 11 kills. Senior
Kimberly Rodriguez recorded her second double-double of the season with a game-high 25 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore
Niovis Monsanto tallied six kills and 13 digs.
Freshman
Stephany Chhay added a match-high 16 digs. Freshman
Jamarie Silverio had nine digs and two total blocks.
Against Mount Saint Mary, Almanzar led the offense with a team-high eight kills and the team's lone solo block. Chaay registered a team-high 10 digs.
Rodriguez dished out a team-high 14 assists and Silverio notched seven digs. Sophomore
Sophia Wheelan picked up six kills and three digs.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse on Tuesday, October 19, for a conference match against York College at 6:00 pm. Before the match, the Athletics Department will honor seniors
Mirialis Almanzar,
Niovis Monsanto, and
Kimberly Rodriguez as part of Senior Day.
