The women's basketball team defeated Rosemont College, 84-78, on Saturday afternoon in Rosemont, PA. The Bloodhounds get back to .500 and improve to 5-5. The Ravens drop to 3-4 overall.
All five starters for John Jay recorded double digit points. Sophomore
Katie Healy led the scoring with a team-high 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Senior
Nyasha Howard picked up her fifth double-double of the year with 12 points, a team-high 10 boards, a team-high six assists, and a season-high and game-high five steals. Sophomore
Lily Rakitzis finished with 18 points, three assists, and three steals.

All'aha Albright fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The first five minutes consisted of five lead changes as Rosemont led 9-8. The hosts followed with six straight to lead by seven. At the end of one, the Bloodhounds trailed 19-13. Two minutes into the second, Healy nailed a jumper to cut the deficit to four. Down by seven, junior
Jessica Gorman sank a three and baskets by Rakitzis and De Voogd tied up the game at 30-30.
Trailing by two with 1:32 left in the half, John Jay went on an 8-0 run and went into halftime with a 42-38 advantage.
Four minutes into the third quarter, the Bloodhounds increased the lead to nine. They went into the final period holding a 67-60 lead.
The Ravens quickly trimmed the deficit to four in the fourth but John Jay quickly increased it back up to seven with 6:41 remaining. Rosemont responded on a 7-0 run to even the score at 71-71.
With the score knotted at 73 apiece, the Bloodhounds scored six straight and would hold on to extend their win streak to three.
John Jay finished 29-for-76 (38.2%) from the floor, 5-for-18 (27.8%) from behind the arc, and 21-for-33 (63.6%) from the free-throw line.
