The women's basketball team cruised to an 88-47 win over Lehman College in the conference opener in the Bronx. The Bloodhounds end their losing streak and improve to 3-5 on the year and 1-0 in CUNYAC play. The Lightning drop to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Senior
Nyasha Howard led the offense with a career-high 36 points, nine rebounds, a game-high four assists, and four steals. The New York, NY native went an impressive 15-for-17 from the charity stripe. Sophomore
Katie Healy fell three steals shy of a triple-double with 19 points, a team-high 10 rebounds, and a career-high and game-high seven steals.
Senior
All'aha Albright finished with 14 points and a pair of steals. Sophomore
Kameron De Voogd came off the bench to record nine rebounds, eight points, and a game-high two blocks.
With the Bloodhounds ahead 4-3 in the first, John Jay went on a 7-0 run. The Bloodhounds held a 17-9 advantage at the end of one. John Jay opened the second with 10 straight points and went into halftime with a 41-22 advantage.
The Bloodhounds outscored the Lightning by a margin of 47-25 in the second half.
John Jay finished 27-for-64 (42.2%) from the field, 4-for-21 (19.0%) from behind the arc, and 30-for-40 (75.0%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds travel to City College on Friday, December 6, for a conference game at 5:00 pm.
