The men's volleyball team went 1-1 over the weekend in a non-conference tri-match on the campus of York College in Jamaica, NY. The Bloodhounds fell to Ramapo College, 3-1 (25-18, 28-26, 24-26, 27-25), but rebounded to top Elizabethtown, 3-0 (25-21, 29-27, 25-22). John Jay is now 8-7 on the season.
In the match against Ramapo, junior
Krystian Surdel paced the Bloodhounds with a game-high 17 kills. Sophomore
Anthony Francois and freshman
Alejandro Gallardo combined for 17 kills, six digs, and five total blocks.
Junior
Godwin Sequeira fell one dig shy of a double-double with a game-high 34 assists and season-high nine digs. Sophomore
Dylan Senkiw totaled a season-high and match-high six total blocks and sophomore
Rintaro Kato registered a game-high 10 digs. Freshman
Doobin Lee finished with four kills, six digs, and three total blocks.
In the win over Elizabethtown, Surdel finished in double digit kills wih a team-high 10. Sequeira dished out a match-high 30 assists to go along with four kills and four digs.
Gallardo tallied six kills and four digs and senior
Michael Chabla added a team-high six digs. Francois and freshman
Nikita Kuznetsov had seven and five kills, respectively.
The Bloodhounds host Medgar Evers on Tuesday, February 26, for a conference match at 7:00 pm at the Doghouse.
