The women's volleyball team dropped two conference matches on Saturday at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fell to Baruch College, 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-10), and CCNY, 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15). John Jay is now 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in CUNYAC play.
In the match against the Bearcats of Baruch, sophomore
Niovis Monsanto fell one dig shy of a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs. Sophomore
Sophia Wheelan registered 10 kills and freshman
Stephany Chhay added a match-high 14 digs.
Senior
Mirialis Almanzar recorded eight kills and a match-high three total blocks. Senior
Kimberly Rodriguez dished out a game-high 29 assists. Freshman
Jamarie Silverio had a team-high three service aces.
Against the CCNY Beavers, Monsanto notched her first double-double of the season with a career-high and match-high 15 kills, 10 digs, and four service aces. Almanzar picked up 10 kills and Rodriguez finished with a season-high and game-high 36 assists to go along with six digs.
Chhay registered a match-high 12 digs and Silverio added a team-high six aces.
For the day, John Jay totaled 70 kills, 69 assists, 20 service aces, 13 total blocks, and 76 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to Brooklyn College on Thursday, September 19, for a conference match at 6:00 pm.
