The men's volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference matches in the season opener on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fell to Eastern Nazarene, 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-23), and Rivier, 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-20).
In the match against Eastern Nazarene, senior
Krystian Surdel led the offense with a team-high 14 kills, five digs, and two service aces. Junior
Dylan Senkiw notched a double-double with a match-high 32 assists and a team-high 10 digs. Sophomore
Alejandro Gallardo tallied 12 kills and six digs.
In his collegiate debut, freshman
Jack Nugent finished with five kills, four digs, and a match-high three solo blocks. In his Bloodhound debut, sophomore
Colton Kelly had eight digs and two total blocks and junior
Jose Peralta added nine digs.
In the game vs. Rivier, freshman
Nathan Wan led the way with a match-high 11 kills. Kelly recorded six kills and a team-high five digs. Surdel added seven kills and Senkiw dished out a game-high 22 assists.
John Jay totaled 62 kills, 62 assists, 11 total blocks, eight service aces, and 81 digs.
The Bloodhounds hit the road on Friday, January 24, for a weekend tournament in Utica, NY.
