The men's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-23) victory on Tuesday evening in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-8 on the season. The Raptors fall to 1-9 overall.
Freshman
Jack Nugent led the way with a career-high and match-high 10 kills and match-high five total blocks. Sophomore
Nikita Kuznetsov also finished with a career-night with a career-high eight kills and a career-high four service aces. Sophomore
Alejandro Gallardo and freshman
Nathan Wan tallied five kills apiece. Gallardo also added three aces.
Junior
Dylan Senkiw recorded a game-high 21 assists, three total blocks, and three digs. Senior
Godwin Sequeira registered a team-high six digs.
The Bloodhounds opened the match on a 7-0 run. John Jay broke open the set recording nine of 10 points to take the opening period. The second set went back-and-forth but the Bloodhounds ended the period on a 10-4 run to take a two set advantage. John Jay dominated the early part of the third with six of the first eight points. The Raptors made a late run but the Bloodhounds held on for their first sweep of the season.
John Jay totaled 41 kills, 30 assists, nine total blocks, eight service aces, and 54 digs.
The Bloodhounds open up conference play on Monday, February 17, at the Doghouse. John Jay faces Baruch College at 10:00 am followed by Lehman College at 2:00 pm.
