In the CUNYAC opener, the men's volleyball team split a tri-match on Monday afternoon at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fell to Baruch College, 3-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-22, 25-17), but rebounded to shut out Lehman College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14). John Jay is now 3-10 on the season and 1-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the match versus the Bearcats of Baruch, sophomore
Alejandro Gallardo fell one dig shy of a double-double with 13 kills, nine digs, and a pair of blocks. Senior
Krystian Surdel finished with 13 kills and three digs. Junior
Dylan Senkiw tallied his second double-double of the season with a team-high 30 assists, a season-high 11 digs, and a season-high six total blocks.
Freshman
Jack Nugent registered seven kills and five blocks. Senior
Godwin Sequeira added a career-high 16 digs and freshman
Manuel Peralta had five digs.
Against the Lightning of Lehman, freshman
Nathan Wan led the offense with 11 kills, three digs, and a pair of blocks. Sophomore
Doobin Lee recorded a season-high eight kills and a career-high and match-high three service aces. M. Peralta dished out a career-high and game-high 34 assists to go along with five digs. Sequeira notched a match-high 10 digs.
Nugent finished with seven kills and a team-high four total blocks. Sophomore
Nikita Kuznetsov contributed six kills.
John Jay totaled 77 kills, 71 assists, 25 total blocks, 10 blocks, and 78 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to City College on Thursday, February 20, for a conference game at 7:00 pm.
