Men's Basketball Outscores Bulldogs 50-26 in Second Half to Overcome Early Deficit on Senior Day; Doug Levy Picks Up 14th Double-Double

The men's basketball team erased a 12-point deficit in the first half to power by Brooklyn College, 79-60, on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds improve to 19-5 overall and an impressive 12-1 in the conference. The Bulldogs fall to 9-15 and 6-7 in CUNYAC.

Senior Doug Levy notched his team-leading 14th double-double of the year with 14 points, a game-high 15 rebounds, and a season-high and game-high five blocks. Senior Jayson Brower registered a team-high 18 points and seven boards. Junior Kyle LaGuardia tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

Senior Luciano Cruz-Fernandez made a trio of three-pointers to finish with nine points. Junior Romello Ford added 11 points, a game-high three assists, and a team-high three steals.

Starting all four seniors on senior day, the Bloodhound jumped out to an early 8-4 lead as the seniors recorded all eight points. Brooklyn took a 10-8 lead but Cruz-Fernandez and Levy responded with back-to-back three-pointers. The Bulldogs followed on a 9-2 run to hold a 22-16 advantage with 8:03 left in the half.

LaGuardia answered with a layup but Brooklyn registered the game's next eight points to increase their lead to 12. Down by eight with seconds left on the clock, Ford drilled a long three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the deficit to 34-29 at the half.

The Bulldogs scored the first two points of the second half but Rivera made a layup and Brower drained a three to trim the lead down to two. With 15:39 left to go, Brower hit another three-pointer to even the score at 41 apiece. The next four minutes went back-and-forth as there were seven lead changes.

Down 54-51, Levy came up with a huge block and then ran the floor to sink a long three-pointer to tie up the game. That would ignite an 18-0 run over the next seven minutes of play as the Bloodhounds would run away with their 12th CUNYAC win of the season.

Before the game, the Athletics Department honored seniors Jayson Brower, Luciano Cruz-Fernandez, Doug Levy, Jose Rodriguez, and Oneil Smith as part of Senior Day.
