The men's basketball team capped off the regular season with an 89-81 victory over Hunter College on Tuesday night in New York, NY. The Bloodhounds conclude the regular season with a nine-game winning streak and winners of 11 of their last 12. In addition, John Jay has strung 11 straight CUNYAC victories. The Bloodhounds finish the regular season 20-5 (best since 2003-04) and 13-1 in the conference (best since 1984-85). They finish with their best CUNYAC win percentage (92.9%) in program history.
Junior
Kyle LaGuardia led the Bloodhounds with beautiful dunks finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points, a game-high nine rebounds, and a game-high two blocks. Senior
Jayson Brower led all John Jay scorers with a team-high 19 points, five rebounds, and a pair of steals. Sophomore
Angel Rivera registered 10 points and a game-high four steals.
Freshman
Dan Kenny finished with his best game as a Bloodhound notching a career-high 12 points and six boards. Junior
Romello Ford contributed eight points and freshman
Garrison Watkins tallied 12 points and six rebounds.
Both teams exchanged baskets in the first four minutes as the Bloodhounds led 7-6. Brower and Kenny made back-to-back jumpers to increase the lead to five. With 7:30 left in the half, the Hawks trimmed the deficit to 17-16.
Kenny answered with two straight layups and Watkins followed by sinking a three to put John Jay ahead 24-17. Up by seven with 2:18 on the clock, the Bloodhounds ended the period on a 12-3 run to lead 44-28 at the half. Kenny led the offense with a team-high 10 points.
A layup by Rivera 15 seconds in increased the lead to 18. Two-and-a-half minutes later, the hosts chipped at the lead to trail 46-34. With the score 55-44 in favor of John Jay, the visitors scored six of the next seven points to go up by 16 with 12:52 left to play.

Corey Jones Jr. put John Jay ahead by 19. The Bloodhounds' largest lead of the contest came with 5:20 on the clock when freshman
Mikhail Leston made a layup.
The Hawks fought back to trail 82-75 with seventy-three seconds remaining. However, John Jay converted on late free-throws and made back-to-back defensive stops to help the Bloodhounds prevail for their 20th victory.
John Jay went 27-for-53 (50.9%) from the floor, 6-for-17 (35.3%) from behind the arc, and 29-for-41 (70.7%) from the free-throw line.
