The men's volleyball team fought hard all afternoon long but dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at the Doghouse. John Jay fell to Misericordia University, 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 24-26, 25-14), and Nichols College, 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22). The Bloodhounds are now 1-9 on the season.
In the match against Misericordia, sophomore
Alejandro Gallardo recorded his first collegiate double-double with a career-high and match-high 18 kills and a career-high 10 digs. Freshman
Nathan Wan tallied 11 kills and senior
Godwin Sequeira added a season-high and game-high 15 digs.
Junior
Dylan Senkiw dished out a career-high and team-high 39 assists to go along with a season-high and team-high three service aces, and three total blocks. Freshman
Jack Nugent had a career-high eight kills and three total blocks.
In the game vs. Nichols, Gallardo picked up his second straight double-double with a team-high 12 kills and team-high 10 digs. Wan fell one dig shy of a double-double with with 11 kills, nine digs, and a pair of total blocks. Nugent finished with a career-high and game-high seven total blocks, a career-high and match-high four aces, and four kills. Sequeira registered nine digs and Senkiw recorded 25 assists and eight digs.
For the day, John Jay totaled 79 kills, 72 assists, 28 total blocks, eight service aces, and 92 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to Bard College on Tuesday, February 11, for a non-conference match at 11:00 am.
