NEW YORK, NY -- Nine different Bloodhounds tallied kills en route to women's volleyball sweeping the CCNY Beavers (25-21, 25-20, 25-14) in a non-conference match on Wednesday night at the Doghouse. John Jay improves to 5-7 overall on the season, while the Beavers fall to 1-7 on the year.
It was freshman
Amanda Marte who was the star of the show for the Bloodhounds, collecting a career-high 13.5 points thanks to a career-high seven service aces to go along with six kills and an assisted block. The outside hitter helped lead a dominant John Jay offense, which outhit CCNY .126-.026, leading to the Bloodhounds winning all three sets rather easily. In the first set, John Jay had a 20-10 lead and was able to hold on despite a 10-0 Beaver run that tied the set at 20-20. The Bloodhounds were able to squeak out a back-and-forth second set, and then went on to dominate the third set to earn the sweep.

Faith Harer had a match-high seven kills on the night, while freshman libero
Kristin Gretener had a match-high 16 digs. Freshman setter
Meghan Smith paced the Bloodhounds with a match-high 26 assists. Freshman
Taylor Hunt chipped in six service aces while the freshman trio of
Johnelle Pierre,
Reilly Catan, and
Aniko Ouwendijk each had four kills. Other Bloodhounds who tallied kills were freshmen

John Jay returns to the court on Friday, October 8 for a road match at Drew University in Madison, NJ. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m.
