NEW YORK, NY -- The women's volleyball team welcomed Hunter College and the City College of New York to the Doghouse on Saturday morning for the John Jay Tri-Match. The Bloodhounds concluded the day with a 1-1 record, beating CCNY, 3-1 (25-16, 25-13, 21-25, 25-21), after getting swept (29-27, 25-20, 25-19) by Hunter College earlier in the morning. John Jay's record is now 6-9 on the season.
Freshman
Faith Harer led the Bloodhounds with nine kills in the loss to the Hawks. She fought to help keep John Jay in the match, but ultimately the Bloodhounds fell short in each set. Freshman
Reilly Catan added eight kills in the match, while freshman
Erika Hoti chipped in seven kills. Freshman
Meghan Smith had a match-high 28 assists, and freshman
Kristin Gretener had a match-high 10 digs.
In the win over CCNY, freshmen
Paige Sadowitz and
Rylea Sandel each had nine kills to lead the way for John Jay. Freshman
Aniko Ouwendijk chipped in seven kills, and Catan also had seven to go along with a match-high 12 digs. Freshman
Paige Sadowitz added a career-high four service aces, while freshman
Arnela Radoncic had a career-high six assists.
On the day, John Jay totaled 81 kills, 23 aces, 10 blocks, 70 assists, and 73 digs as a team.
Up next, the Bloodhounds hit the road for a CUNYAC match against York College on Thursday, October 14 in Jamaica, NY. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
