Inside the Doghouse, Jon Perez interviewed women's basketball's
Katie Healy to discuss her once-in-a-lifetime trip to Brazil last month.
"It was an amazing experience, an experience of a lifetime," Healy said. "I got to represent my friends and family, John Jay, and my country."
The forward represented United States Division III Women's Basketball as part of a Brazil tour with student-athletes from around the country. This was Healy's first time outside of the country.
"It was beautiful...if you ever have the chance to go to Brazil, I would go," exclaimed Healy.
Healy is now the second Bloodhound to represent the US in Brazil after men's basketball's
Doug Levy did so in 2019.
"Not many colleges can say they had two players represent the United States in two years and I give credit to John Jay Athletics," the Merrick, NY native added.
A two-year member of the Bloodhounds, the forward has dominated the conference and region being recognized as a two-time CUNYAC all-star. In her career, Healy averages a double-double with 17.2 PPG and 10.8 RPG. The Merrick, NY native also registered 163 steals, 106 assists, and 24 blocks. In addition, Healy also competes for the women's soccer program and is also a two-time conference all-star.
"I can't wait to be back on the field and court with my teammates, coaches, and friends....I miss them all," said Healy.
