NEW YORK, NY -- The women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-16) victory in the team's first CUNYAC match of the season on Tuesday night at the Doghouse. With the victory, the Bloodhounds improve to 3-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, while the Lightning fall to 0-1 on the year.
John Jay had control of the match for almost the entire night, as Lehman only held a lead for five total rallies through all three sets. The Bloodhounds used 4-0 runs in each set to take an early lead and never looked back, going on to win each one comfortably.
Freshman
Faith Harer collected a game-high eight kills in the match. Freshman
Meghan Smith conducted a beautiful offense all night for the Bloodhounds, totaling 18 assists in the game to lead both teams. The freshman duo of
Reilly Catan and
Kristin Gretener each tallied five digs to lead John Jay. Gretener also led the team with four service aces, while Smith chipped in three. Freshman
Johnelle Pierre and Harer combined for the team's only block in the match.

As a team, John Jay outhit Lehman .200 to -.277. The Bloodhounds combined for 31 kills while limiting the Lighting to just three. John Jay also had a massive advantage in service aces, 15-1.
John Jay returns to the court on Thursday, September 23 for a non-conference match against Manhattanville College. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Doghouse.
