NEW YORK, NY -- The women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference matchup against the Manhattanville Valiants, 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-13). With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 3-5 on the season, while Manhattanville improves to 6-1.
John Jay hung with the Valiants all the way through the first set, and was able to take a 22-18 lead late in the period. However, Manhattanville closed the set on a 7-0 run and took a 1-0 lead in the match. The Valiants carried that momentum into the next two sets and were able to secure a 3-0 victory.
Freshman
Faith Harer led the Bloodhounds with nine kills in the match. She also had a game-high 15 digs. Freshman
Amanda Marte added four kills, while freshmen
Reilly Catan and
Erika Hoti each added three kills. Freshman
Meghan Smith dished out a team-high 17 assists in the match to go along with four digs. Freshman
Taylor Hunt also had double-digit digs, totaling 11.
John Jay will return to the court on Saturday, September 25. The Bloodhounds are traveling to Wilkes-Barre, PA for a tri-match against Wilkes University and Montclair State University. The game against Wiles is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and the game against Montclair is scheduled for 1 p.m.
